Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the Champions League season after a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday evening.

The Reds took all three points from the Red Bull Arena thanks to a first-half goal from Darwin Nunez, who poked home from close range after Mohamed Salah’s header.

Arne Slot’s side were tested late as Leipzig pushed for an equalizer, but the Reds remained determined to secure an important win.

This means they rise to the top of the Champions League together with Aston Villa, while they continue to impress under the Dutch coach.

Mail Sport’s HENRY CLARK was on hand to give his player ratings for both sides.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3)

Caoimhin Kelleher-8

Made some super saves to save his side, especially in the second half as Leipzig’s pressure increased.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

Stepped into midfield to break up attacks and performed his defensive duties when called into action.

Ibrahima Konate-7

An impressive presence in Liverpool’s backline. The dangerous Sesko barely sniffed him all night.

Virgil van Dijk – 6.5

Didn’t stand out as much as his central defender, but a typically strong performance from the Dutchman.

Kostas Tsimikas-6.5

Some promising moments ahead and it was his cross that led to Nunez’s winner.

Ryan Gravenberch-6

Struggled to dominate the midfield battle but was still able to stifle Leipzig’s advance when necessary.

Alexis MacAllister-5

He looked a little off the pace as he continues his comeback from injury. Wrongly booked for diving in the first half.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 5.5

He failed to leave a mark on his return to Leipzig. Some nice moments in the first half, but they faded as the match progressed.

Mohamed Salah-5

A very quiet night by the high standards of the Egyptian. Saw Nunez score his goal on the line before getting hooked on Diaz.

Darwin Nunez – 7.5

A reminder of what he can bring to this team. A handful all night and his goal will be a much-needed confidence boost.
