Atletico Madrid scored four times in 13 minutes in the second half to win 7-0 against Rayo Vallecano to finish second in LaLiga.
Atletico were 3–0 up within 36 minutes, as goals from Antoine Griezmann, Memphis Depay and Nahuel Molina effectively ended the game as a game against Rayo, who had previously won their first two games of the season.
Alvaro Morata scored twice as Diego Simeone’s side slammed their hosts in the last 20 minutes, with Angel Correa and Marcos Llorente also on target to put Atletico two points behind Real Madrid on top.
Elsewhere, an 84th-minute penalty from Borja Mayoral secured a 1–0 win for Getafe at home to Alaves.
