Brookside Shopping Center manager Greg Plawecki told 7News he was shocked by the strange alleged incident.

“It’s very disappointing, I can’t believe it happened,” Mr Plawecki said.

The Tesla’s owner said he was quoted $2,000 for repair work, adding he was devastated over the alleged incident.

Queensland Police have charged Edwards with two counts of malicious damage in two incidents.

The 70-year-old appears to be an avid car enthusiast and had posted selfies on Facebook of himself in Bathurst, alongside luxury vehicles and racing cars.

He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 11.
