Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are getting a new update for Amazon Music and mental health

In a sign that they could follow the roughly monthly Meta Quest 3 software update schedule we’ve come to expect, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have received several new tools, like Calm, and improved Instagram integration, just 29 days since they launched their huge April 23rd release. upgrade.

While none of these improvements seemingly include broader access to the still-in-beta and still-exclusive Meta AI in the US and Canada, they do include some useful hands-free features that users can enjoy now.

The first are new Meta AI prompts that let you enjoy guided meditation, mindfulness exercises, and self-care content through your smart specs by simply saying “Hey Meta, play the Daily Calm.” New Calm users can also access a free three-month subscription via prompts in the Meta View app.

Additionally, your smart specs can now stream songs directly from Amazon Music using just voice controls (following Apple Music which added hands-free support in April) – just connect your account via the Meta View app. There are also new options for sharing Instagram stories.

Just say something like, “Hey Meta, post a photo to Instagram” to take a photo that will automatically be shared to your connected Instagram account.

Like the Meta blog post Sharing details about the update, it explains that these new features for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are being rolled out gradually. So if you don’t see the update in the Meta View app, don’t panic: you should receive the update soon enough.

Three new styles

If you don’t like waiting for software changes, there are also some hardware updates – available now.

The internal specs are exactly the same as the original models, but Meta and Ray-Ban have launched three new styles available in the US, Canada, Australia and ‘across Europe’. They are:

  • Skyler in glossy chalk gray with gradient cinnamon pink lenses
  • Skyler in gloss black with Transitions® Cerulean Blue lenses
  • Headliner Low Bridge Fit in gloss black with Polar G15 lenses

Hopefully this monthly software schedule will continue, and if so, those of us outside the US may not have to wait too much longer for the Meta AI to arrive on our devices in a future update.
