Would you ever ‘rawdog’ a flight? Passengers leave people horrified after bragging about bizarre act on long-haul trips

A bizarre new travel trend has emerged emerged in the form of a grueling way to pass time on flights.

The practice known as “rawdogging” or sometimes “barebacking” means not consuming music, movies, or any other form of entertainment other than the basic flight maps or flight data screens on your seat back.

Taking it even further, some will also claim that they have run out of food and water during the journey.

Dozens of clips of passengers jumping on the trend have surfaced on TikTok.

Many videos show travelers with blank expressions as they stare into space.

Creator @westwashere has uploaded several TikToks showing himself barebacking.

In one clip he challenges his followers to follow suit.

He wrote in the overlapping caption, “Is anyone going to match my freak? (Go the entire 10 hour flight without leaving my seat, just looking at the maps and airspeed.)

In other TikToks, he reveals how he ‘survived’ long-haul flights just by looking at the map and wind speed.

Creator @cookeroistok revealed in one of her TikToks how her mother was a fan of rawdogging.

She explains in a caption to a clip of her mother on a flight: “My mother’s beige flag is that she makes raw dogs every flight, no matter how long.

“This is her on a nine-hour flight. No iPad. No headphones. No book. At least she’s comfortable! Go girl.”

The clip has since been viewed more than eight million times by stunned TikTok viewers.

Meanwhile, another creator @oiwudini set a new personal record on a flight by rawdogging for seven hours with “no headphones, no movie, no water, nothing.”

Some commenters said they followed a similar routine on flights, with one writing: ‘This is me LMFAOO. I can’t concentrate on anything like a book or a movie, so I just sit there and stare.”

Others said they admired the mother’s mental strength, while some expressed horror at the prospect of doing nothing for a long time.

One restless commenter wondered in response to the clip, “Like how? I play Candy Crush while listening to an audiobook and watching a movie (subtitles on).”

An equally astonished viewer said: ‘HOW? I need my iPad loaded with a whole series and at least three different movies, just in case I change my mind.”

And echoing similar sentiments, one horrified commenter wrote: “This is literally one of my biggest fears: getting on a plane for a long flight without headphones? I can’t even go to the store without them. WHAT?’

Dalton Roe said he took the trend a step further by taking food out of the equation.

He explained in his TikTok caption, “I just caught a flight from Orlando to LA. No water, no snacks, no music or entertainment. Seat fully upright. The power of the mind knows no bounds. Stay hard.’

One of Dalton’s fans simply replied, “respect.”

Meanwhile, another maker @oiwudini said he set a new personal record during a flight by romping for seven hours with no headphones, no movie, no water, nothing.

He concluded: ‘Unbelievable. The power of my mind knows no bounds.’
