Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the latest PlayStation exclusive coming to PC

Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart, Insomniac Games’ 2021 third-person shooter/platformer for PlayStation 5 launches for Windows PC through Steam in July.

The release marks the first time the 20-year-old franchise has appeared on a platform other than PlayStation (not counting some mobile spin-offs). It’s also another first-party release from Sony Interactive Entertainment on PC, continuing a push that started in 2020 Horizon zero dawn.

Nixxes Software provides the PC port. In a PlayStation Blog postthe studio emphasized that Ratchet & Clank: To tear apart supports ultra-wide monitor setups, including 21:9, 32:9 and even 48:9 aspect ratios.

Over the years, the Ratchet & Clank series has been as critically acclaimed for its gameplay and story as it has been for its animated visuals, so bringing it to PC is no mean feat, with all the performance the platform’s backers have come to expect.

Nixxes said Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart supports “unlocked frame rates and […] the latest performance-enhancing scaling technologies.” Ray-tracing will also be served.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart First launched in June 2021 on PlayStation 5, the debut of the series on that console and the first game since 2016 Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4.

Sony interactive entertainment Insomniac Games acquired in 2019. To tear apart was a critical and commercial success, receiving multiple nominations from The Game Awards, the DICE Awards, and the Game Developers Choice Awards, while sold more than a million copies worldwide, the best of all titles in the series. It was number 20 on Polygon’s list of the 50 best games of 2021.
