Rapper Julio Foolio is shot dead age 26 during birthday ‘ambush’ in Tampa
Rising Florida rapper Julio Foolio has been shot dead in an “ambush” style attack in Tampa during his birthday celebration at the age of 26.
The death of the rising rapper, who has 1 million followers on Instagram, was confirmed by his lawyer Lewis Fusco.
‘Foolio’, whose real name is Charles Jones, celebrated his 26th birthday with friends at an Airbnb before checking into a Holiday Inn where he was ‘ambushed’ in the parking lot.
Tampa police responded to a 911 call about a shooting at 11606 McKinley Drive at approximately 4:40 a.m.
One person was reportedly killed and three others were injured in the Holiday Inn parking lot.

“The victim of this morning’s shooting is believed to be Charles Jones,” Tampa Police Department Public Information Officer Jonee’ Lewis wrote in a news release. “Positive identification is pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office.”
Foolio documented the evening with videos he shared with his Instagram followers.
In one story he mentioned that the police showed up and stopped the party, but the party continued to another location.
Just hours before he was killed, Foolio thanked God for another year.
“Thank you God for letting me see another year and celebrate another birthday,” he wrote on X. “I appreciate all the birthday wishes so far.”

This wasn’t the first time Foolio was shot. The popular Jacksonville rapper has been the target of numerous shootings in the past, the latest of which occurred just eight months ago in October 2023 in another ambush-style attack.
