Fans who went to see the Milwaukee Bucks battle the Atlanta Hawks at the Fiserv Forum were treated to much more than just a game of basketball on Sunday.
Before tipping off, the six-time Grammy-nominated rapper gave Flavor Flav an interpretation from The Star-Spangled Banner to which comparisons were made Fergie’s infamous version during the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
Flavor Flav, 64, stood at center court wearing a Good Land Green Bucks jersey atop a white hoodie, with the snapback angled to the right, with white sunglasses and his signature bell chain.
He then sang a shaky and slow version of the national anthem, which contrasted with the rhythm of his finger snapping.
The cameras panned through the Bucks players, some of whom awkwardly swayed back and forth with their heads down while holding back laughter. Still, the rapper received applause when he spread his arms and said the phrase “…of the brave” three times to end his performance.

Trae Young led the Hawks with 20 points and 11 assists, while seven others scored in double figures
However, fans were divided on social media, with some praising Flavor Flav’s efforts and courage, while others expressed their displeasure at his performance.
One wrote: ‘Considering how difficult the national anthem is to sing, that was better than most people could do,’ while another added: ‘All about it! Unique, but respectful representation.’
On the other hand, another NBA fan claimed that “someone from the Bucks should be fired for this,” while someone told him to “stick to rapping.”
Regardless of whether you liked the rendition or not, it’s fair to say that it got fans talking.
In the game itself, the Bucks ultimately lost to the Hawks, 127-110.
Trae Young led Atlanta with 20 points and 11 assists. Meanwhile, seven other Hawks scored in double figures.

On the other hand, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 26 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to get Milwaukee over the hump.
Bucks point guard Damian Lillard, who made his debut with the Bucks on Thursday with 39 points, struggled with just six points and made two of 12 shots for the night.
