Rapper Boosie Badazz has been criticized for revealing he walked out of the film The Color Purple because he didn't want his daughters to see the film's lesbian love story.
The 41-year-old musician sparked outrage on social media when he slammed the musical adaptation of Alice Walker's 1982 novel, starring Taraji P. Henson and Fantasia Barrino, saying, “I won't let my little girl watch this movie.”
In the book, protagonist Celie (played by Barrino in the new film) begins a same-sex romance with the glamorous Shug Avery (played by Henson) – and in the new film the pair share more than a kiss as their love affair plays out . on screen.
Boosie, who has a prolific history of making anti-LGBTQIA+ comments, wrote: 'I had to leave this movie ([and] two other older couples also walked away) because I had my little girls with me.
'It looked like one [rainbow] love story! Good acting, but whoever wrote the script pushes the story hard. As a parent, I will not let my little girl see this movie.β

Others dragged Boosie for being a hypocrite for releasing the 2015 song Do The Most, with lyrics about “two girls kissing in the backseat” and “girls who like girls who attract me.”
