The parents of the woman doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital last week, have told the CBI that some interns and doctors of the same medical institution were involved in the crime, an officer said on Friday.

The parents also gave the names of those they suspect of being involved in the murder of their daughter in the government hospital to the central agency, which is investigating the case on the orders of the Calcutta High Court.

“The parents told us that they suspect that multiple persons are involved in the sexual assault and murder of their daughter. They have given us the names of a few interns and doctors working with their daughter at RG Kar Hospital,” the CBI official said.

The central agency official said they were prioritizing interrogation of the doctors and officers of the Kolkata Police who were part of the investigation.

“We have targeted at least 30 names that we will call for questioning. We have already started questioning them,” he said.

The CBI on Friday summoned one of the hospital’s staff, two post-graduate trainees (PGTs) who were on duty with the doctor the night he was murdered.

CBI detectives had already questioned the officer on duty at the Tala police station on Thursday evening.

The body of the postgraduate trainee was found in the seminar room of the RG Kar Hospital on August 9. The police arrested a civilian volunteer in this connection the next day.

The CBI took the arrested man to the hospital on Friday for crime scene reconstruction, the source said.
