Common kicked off the Ny Breaking’s spectacular Off The Record Party in New York City on Wednesday night with a stunning rooftop performance.
The multi-award-winning rapper, 52, took the stage at the exclusive party at Brooklyn’s Arlo Williamsburg with a 360-degree backdrop of the city behind him.
As Common walked out to loud applause, he soon delighted guests with his classics including The Light and Come Close.
At one point, he even freestyled a special song for 90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem, who joined him on stage.
Ahead of his intimate show, Common – who is dating singer and actress Jennifer Hudson – lit a palo santo stick and revealed that he practices meditation and says a prayer before every performance.

Speaking on the blue carpet, he said: ‘I’m excited to be performing for Ny Breaking and for everyone here in New York.’
He took a holy stick from his pocket and lit it, sharing his pre-performance rituals.
“I have palo santo, I light it, I say a prayer,” he said. ‘I’ll listen to music. Sometimes it’s jazz, sometimes it’s ’90s R&B.
‘Music gives me the atmosphere and inspiration I need, and then I make sure I bond with the comrades I perform with.’
Reality stars showed up in full force for the Ny Breaking commercial bash, including Love Is Blind alum Clay Gravesande, 32, and Arzo Anwar, 46, of Bravo’s Blood, Sweat & Heels fame.
Love & Hip Hop’s Chrissy Monroe, 52, was also in attendance and shared behind-the-scenes videos describing the event as “such an amazing party.”
Influencer Connie Zen, 25, rapper Connie Diiamond, 31, and Winter House’s Jason Cameron, 38, posed for photos on the carpet.

Summer House star Kyle Cook followed Common’s performance and got the guests dancing with a DJ set.
“Ny Breaking, thank you for having me,” he exclaimed on the blue carpet.
“I can’t wait to bless the ones and twos, even though Common will probably set the bar pretty high!”
Kyle, 42, also exclusively revealed that his best-selling canned cocktail line, Loverboy, will soon introduce a THC drink called Flowerboy.

Jason Cameron was also on the list of celebrity guests in attendance
Enthusiastic: ‘This is the world’s first look at Flowerboy, we call it a social soft drink because yes, it is a microdose of THC product, but it doesn’t make you tired, it makes you social!’
Kyle even brought the can (which was a beautiful orange color) to the party to give DailyMail.com a sneak peek at the soon-to-be-dropping drink.
It contains 5 mg of THC and 5 grams of sugar, and according to Kyle, you can “feel good” when you drink it.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a range of Ny Breaking themed cocktails, including a margarita drink aptly renamed Citrus Sensation and a gin, lemon and honey concoction, Buzzy.
They also indulged in d’oeuvres, including empanadas and sliders.
