Rams QB Matthew Stafford rages at his own offense in furious sideline rant

  • The Rams overcame their offensive struggles to beat the 49ers on Thursday

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford briefly lost his cool Thursday night when his team played the 49ers.

LA, desperately needing a 7-6 win to improve their playoff hopes, struggled to get their offense going all night and finished without a touchdown.

And after the Rams settled for a field goal early in the fourth quarter, Stafford was visibly upset as he gestured to coach Sean McVay.

Stafford glanced at a tablet, which presumably had a game on it, before raising his arms in frustration.

McVay then signaled for Stafford to calm down and the moment seemed to disappear.

Ultimately, the Rams won ugly in San Francisco as they defeated their California rivals 12-6, with the hosts faring even worse on offense, gaining just 191 total yards.

It’s been a challenging few years for McVay and Co. since they won the Super Bowl in 2022, as they went 5-12 the following season and lost in the wild card to the Lions last season.

Nevertheless, they are now firmly in the playoff hunt at 8-6 and will end the regular season against their NFC West foe, the Seahawks.

The 49ers, meanwhile, nearly had their playoff hopes dashed as they fell to 6-8.

It’s been a miserable season for the reigning NFC champions as Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk have missed much of the year due to injuries.

San Francisco’s next three games against the Dolphins, Lions and Cardinals can all now be considered must-wins.
