It seems Jordan, the son of LA Rams head coach Sean McVay, knew how to listen to his father before he was born.

Before the Rams hosted the Pittsburgh Stealers at home on Sunday, McVay stated that his then-unborn son “knows better than to show up during a game” as his model wife Veronika Khonym was expected to go into labor “any day now.”

McVay promised to drop his coaching duties if Khonym gave birth on game day, but crossed his fingers that his son would arrive on another day of the week.

McVay’s wishes were granted. He and Khonym welcomed their firstborn on Tuesday, allowing McVay to be present on Sunday as the Rams travel to Dallas.

“LA Rams Trades: Jordan John McVay Delivered,” the Rams posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

“So he’s here, he’s healthy and he’s feeling good. And what a blessing it is,” McVay said Wednesday, per ESPN.

“Everyone tells you what to expect, and it may not even be as good as everyone says,” McVay said. “And they certainly talked about what a special moment it was. Just amazing how well my wife handled it and what a stud she was during that whole process, and even yesterday. The people were great in terms of the nurses, the doctors and their help.”

McVay gave Jordan the middle name John, after his grandfather, former San Francisco 49ers executive John McVay. McVay emphasized how his grandfather influenced his faith and had a great relationship with his wife.

“His legacy lives on and I know he’s looking down, smiling at what happened yesterday.”

McVay said Jordan’s original due date was October 31, the same day John died in 2022. McVay admitted he hadn’t slept, but joked about how the experience provided “good adrenaline.”

“But at some point it’s going to hit me,” McVay said. “And I’d like to think I can get through it, but I don’t have the stamina I used to have.”
