The Denver Broncos and LA Rams have had seasons they’d rather forget during 15 weeks of NFL action, and it was all about to get worse.
Or so they thought.
In a hilarious prank by Broncos kicker Brandon McManus, Rams safety Nick Scott and CBS Sports, a mannequin displayed ugly Christmas sweaters at the Englewood in Denver and Thousand Oaks in Los Angeles facilities.
Naturally, the reactions were just as amusing as the designs themselves. Many may already be turning off their TVs ahead of the game between the two NFL fighters, and said jerseys may have been the last nail in the box.
New Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield did a double take when he came across a Los Angeles uniform.
Luckily for everyone involved, the jerseys won’t be added to the Christmas Day schedule, and judging by the reactions from both camps, that can only be a positive.
New Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield did a double take when he stumbled upon a Los Angeles uniform, including a yellow helmet with Christmas lights etched on traditional Rams horns.
Broncos pressure caller Russell Wilson also questioned whether Denver would in fact wear the monstrosity of a uniform.
A portion of the Denver Broncos players believed they would wear a festive uniform on December 25.
The fake jerseys appear to be a sleeveless version of the ‘ugly’ Christmas sweaters released by both teams and included the No. 25 and Christmas on the nameplate as a nod to the Broncos’ visit to SoFi Stadium on Christmas Day.
Other players couldn’t believe their eyes, with one Rams player calling the fit ‘ugly as fuck’, and another labeling it ‘garbage’.
Denver’s helmet had a reindeer, instead of his traditional Bronco, with a player saying; The reindeer is a bit childish. Our normal helmet would have been fine.
Fortunately for many Broncos players and fans, it will be more than fine and usable that day.
Some Rams players were pleased with the fit, but most did not enjoy the Christmas uniform.
When the holiday schedule was announced, he seemed like an eager prospect with the reigning Super Bowl champs up against Russell Wilson and a revitalized Broncos.
Instead, both franchises are 4-10 and have already been eliminated from the possibility of making the playoffs.
In a time synonymous with gratitude, one can theorize that it could have been worse. Reindeer helmet and all.
