Ramkrishna Forgings will supply powertrain components to the largest EV manufacturer in the US
Kolkata-based Ramkrishna Forgings Limited has been approved to supply powertrain components to the US’ largest electric passenger car maker, the company said on Thursday.
The company did not reveal the name of the vehicle manufacturer in its announcement, but sources indicated it could be Tesla. However, the announcement comes ahead of technology billionaire Elon Musk’s visit to India. He will visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his statement, Ramkrishna said it was an “important milestone” in his journey towards pioneering electric mobility solutions. “The nation’s largest electric passenger vehicle manufacturer grants approval for powertrain components, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership that opens up a realm of exciting opportunities. This milestone approval marks the company’s position in the electric passenger car segment, with a strong focus on powertrain components,” the company said in a press release.
The approval follows the presentation of an extensive portfolio of cutting-edge solutions, demonstrating the company’s expertise and commitment to delivering best-in-class products, it added.

The company said this approval not only marks its debut in the US EV market, but also opens up a host of exciting new perspectives.
Ramkrishna is a supplier to various industries such as automotive, railways, agricultural machinery, bearings, oil and gas, power and construction, earthmoving and mining, both in India and overseas markets.
In the automotive sector, it is a supplier to OEMs such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, VE Commercial and Daimler in India and to Volvo, Mack Trucks, Iveco, DAF, Scania, MAN, UD Trucks and Ford Otosan in the overseas markets. It supplies tier 1 axle manufacturers worldwide such as Dana, Meritor and American Axles.
