Ram temple opening: Meat shops will remain closed in Lucknow on January 22

The All India Jamiatul Quresh, a prominent Muslim organization in Uttar Pradesh, has announced that it will keep all meat shops in Lucknow closed during the dedication ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Temple on January 22.

Jamiatul Quresh, All-India National Secretary Shahabuddin Qureshi and his Vice President Ashfaq Qureshi on Monday submitted a memorandum to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak in this regard.

They said the Pasmanda Muslim community has decided to continue closing all meat shops in Lucknow's Bilochpura, Sadar Cantt, Fatehganj and Latouche Road areas.

“We are all residents of Awadh. Taking into account the goodwill at the 'Pran Pratishtha' in Ayodhya, it has been unanimously decided that on January 22, 2024, all meat traders of Bilochpura, Sadar Cantt, Fatehganj and Latouche Road areas will close their doors. are keeping their businesses closed,” Shahabuddin Qureshi said in the memorandum submitted to state deputy CM.

BJP MLA urges government to ban alcohol and meat on January 22

BJP lawmaker Ram Kadam has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde seeking a ban on the sale of liquor and meat in the state on the day of the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony. In the letter, Kadam also urged the state leadership to request the Center to ban the sale of alcohol and meat on January 22.

Seeking the temporary restriction, Kadam noted that this day was the “most auspicious” day and the Ram mandir is being built in Ayodhya after five centuries. He went on to say that the day is nothing less than “celebrating Diwali not only in Maharashtra but across the country”.

“On January 22, there is a consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. It is the most auspicious and holy day. Therefore, I request you to ban liquor and meat on that day. After 500 years, the Ram temple is being built in Ayodhya. Many karsevak have suffered “In front of the Ram temple. Many were sent to prison. This day is like celebrating Diwali, not only in Maharashtra but the entire country is very auspicious,” Kadam wrote.

“Keeping the holy day in mind, there should be a liquor ban and meat ban in Maharashtra. Also ask the central government to implement this across the country. Enforce an alcohol ban and a meat ban,” he added.
