NYC Sanitation took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to attack Ralph Lauren for putting his garbage bags out on the street.

The company also claimed that the luxury fashion brand took out its waste ‘too early’ two days in a row.

The department pointed out how small businesses managed to follow the rules.

‘As a CHAIN BUSINESS you are now OBLIGATE to transport your waste in containers’, it is written.

“And the garbage at your “flagship” is out WAY too early two days in a row!

“Many small businesses in New York are already following the rules…”

The new sanitation rules went into effect Tuesday for all retail chains with five or more locations in New York City. Ralph Lauren has seven stores in the city.

Eligible businesses are required to use sturdy containers with closed lids to take their waste out for collection.

No matter what items are sold, the new rules require all businesses to comply.

Waste may also be placed on the sidewalk only one hour before a shop closes or after 8 p.m.

The Ralph Lauren flagship store closes at 6 p.m. It’s not clear what time they put the trash out as the NYC Sanitation post was posted around 8pm.

Similar sanitary rules were introduced for food-related businesses on August 1.

Owners were given a one-month grace period, with fines of $50 for a first offense, $100 for the second, and $200 for the third.

NYC Sanitation has reported that New Yorkers are having fewer interactions with rats and complaints have already dropped by 20 percent this summer.
