David Schumacher has come out to defend his father Ralf as his feud with his ex-wife Cora continues to escalate.

Former Williams driver Ralf announced in July that he was in love with his French manager Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne.

The news sparked a war of words between Schumacher and his ex-wife, who accused him of being a liar and said she had “wasted her best years on him.”

The couple was previously married for 14 years and had a son David together before splitting in 2015.

And David has now spoken out publicly on the issue, making it clear he is on his father’s side and claiming his mother has mental health issues.

“Normally I wouldn’t want to talk about family matters in public because these topics aren’t talked about online,” began the statement, published in a now-deleted Instagram story.

‘Unfortunately my mother sees this differently. It’s time to end it now: I just want to live my life in peace, [and] achieving my goals without being asked about all the things my mother accuses me and my father of.”

David went on to claim that his mother had suffered from ‘mental problems’ for ‘as long as I can remember’, telling a disturbing story from his childhood.

The German also revealed: ‘When my parents divorced in 2015, my mother threatened me that if I didn’t live with her, she would destroy my life’s dream, which means my dream of becoming a racing driver would be destroyed because, as a result of the custody of both parents, she no longer wanted to sign the necessary documents.

“Because she wasn’t in the right mental state to care for me and I didn’t want to grow up in an environment where the only thing that mattered all day was what a bad person my father was, I just didn’t want to do that. don’t be near her anymore.

‘There was an incident where she tried to take me away from my own father against my will and it got so out of hand that we had to call the police because she was beating my father non-stop.’

“The constant accusations against my father that he planted everything in my head and only speaks poorly of her are not even remotely true.”

‘My father always did everything he could to ensure that I had a good relationship with my mother. For years, Dad repeatedly persuaded me to give her another chance. I’ve always blocked it out because I have no desire or nerves to go through the same thing again – to wake up old memories and have the same experiences.

‘And the way she is behaving at the moment is a complete shame: my parents have been divorced for 9 years! Please leave us alone and let us live our lives – we will leave you alone too!’
