A bar worker has been fired after dramatic video surveillance of a pregnant woman giving birth at the popular venue was filmed and shared online.

Images of the woman who drops her pants just before a baby comes out at Raintrees Tavern in Cairns, in far north Queensland, went viral on social media on Thursday.

A security guard is seen picking up the newborn from the ground and cradling it.

While the popular venue declined to comment, its parent company ALH Hotels condemned the image sharing as unacceptable.

The employee who filmed and posted the footage on social media was fired on Thursday, a week after the incident.

Images shared online showed a woman giving birth at Raintrees Tavern while being attended by a security guard.

“We take privacy very seriously, we have strict policies protecting the privacy of staff and customers and we regret that CCTV footage has been accessed and shared in this way against company policy,” a spokeswoman told the Daily Mail Australia.

‘It is clearly unacceptable.

“In addition to taking steps to ensure this does not happen again, appropriate disciplinary action was taken against the team member who filmed and posted the footage on social media.”

The surprise arrival occurred on Australia Day, when the pub was packed with patrons enjoying the holiday.

Raintree Tavern staff cared for and supported the new mom and baby immediately after birth and contacted paramedics.

Queensland Ambulance confirmed that paramedics were called to the scene, but said the woman and newborn left the scene in a private vehicle before arriving.

The well-being of the new mother and her baby remains unknown, raising concern for the couple among online viewers.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the security company that provides guards at Raintrees Tavern for comment.

The extraordinary video shows the pregnant woman running into the pub’s dining room and crouching in a corner.

The woman drops her pants and leans over to push while still standing as the security guard rushes to help her.

The baby was seen falling from the woman’s body as the guard lunged to try to catch the baby, who appeared to land on the carpeted floor.

Then the guard bent down to pick up the baby. The woman looked relieved, still standing and bent over with her pants around her knees.

The toddler’s umbilical cord can be seen in the footage as the worker held the newborn in his arms before walking away from the frame.

The extraordinary incident sparked an instant reaction on social media with one person commenting that it was “truly incredible”.

‘[The guard] you need to update your resume,’ said one.
