Raheem Sterling left out of England squad AGAIN as Bukayo Saka returns and Eddie Nketiah drops out ahead of final two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia
Raheem Sterling’s exile in England continued after Gareth Southgate named his squad for the final pair of Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.
Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah has lost his place, while his clubmate Bukayo Saka has recovered, while Manchester City’s John Stones is missing due to injury.
Southgate has resisted the temptation to opt for Reece James and Eberechi Eze, who have only recently returned from injury.
The Three Lions booked their place at the tournament in Germany next summer with a 3-1 win over Italy last month and will hope to end the qualifying campaign on a high.
Chelsea striker Sterling has not played for England since last year’s World Cup quarter-final defeat to France when he came off the bench.

Gareth Southgate has announced England’s latest squad ahead of the upcoming final two qualifiers for Euro 2024, at home to Malta and away to North Macedonia
He was injured in the opening qualifiers for Euro 2024 in March, but Sterling has failed to regain his England place in the four subsequent squads.
Southgate explained that he wanted continuity in his team, which performed well in ensuring qualification for the 2024 European Championship with two games remaining.
Asked about Sterling’s absence, he said: ‘The team is playing very well, we had an exceptional win against Italy here last time. Who do we leave out to bring him in?’
Arsenal star Saka missed October’s games against Australia and Italy with a thigh problem, but he has returned to club action and is expected to feature for England next week.
Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson also returns, but there is no room for Nketiah, who made his debut in the friendly against Australia.
