Raheem Sterling has kept talks with Chelsea open in a bid to find a solution to his uncertain future, Mail Sport can reveal.

Sources at Stamford Bridge have revealed that the outcome of the talks was that all parties had to work together to find Sterling. Sterling has been given permission to miss training on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is a permanent move away from Chelsea, ahead of next Friday’s transfer deadline.

Chelsea are now actively seeking interested players for Sterling and are expected to keep him updated.

It is hoped the talks, which will include direct dialogue with Sterling, will pave the way for his permanent departure this summer.

Sterling has not been at the club’s Cobham headquarters since representatives for the player – in response to a query from Mail Sport – released a statement calling for clarity over his future following a series of events, of which his exclusion from the squad for last Sunday’s match against Manchester City was the tip of the iceberg.

The 29-year-old player has now been given the clarity he was looking for as it is clear that the player has no future under Enzo Maresca.

Sterling was absent from the club’s training centre in Surrey this week despite his permission from the club.

Maresca has said he will train outside the first team, alongside the likes of Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah.

It remains to be seen whether Sterling will no longer be allowed to use the first-team facilities upon his return to Cobham.

Chalobah will not be allowed to use the senior team’s facilities this summer after the club made it clear he is available for a transfer.

If the club sticks to this position, Sterling will be asked to train with the youth academy until he finds a new club.
