Rafael Nadal has signaled the end of his career is in sight and confirmed he is out of this year’s French Open. He will need several months to try and end his ongoing injury battle.
The 14-time champion of Paris also suggested today, during a press conference at his academy in Mallorca, that he is looking at his final year on tour to 2024.
The Spanish legend, nearly 37, will definitely not play at Wimbledon as he has not recovered from the hip muscle injury that has kept him out since the Australian Open.
Nadal explained that he had not been able to train properly for months and that he was not one to make up the numbers at Roland Garros.
His plan is to take an indefinite hiatus from playing in the hopes of giving his body a chance to recover for next season, but he stressed that he was not making any predictions.
