Radio star Lauren Phillips breaks several bones in a freak accident at a Barbie-themed party, as the doctor tells her she looks like she’s been ‘run over by a car’
Radio star Lauren Phillips broke her arm so badly this weekend that a doctor thought she had been run over by a car.
The KIIS FM presenter broke four bones in her arm following a freak accident at friend and fellow presenter Jessica Roberts’ Barbie-themed 30th birthday party on Saturday night.
The bash was also attended by Bec Judd and Nadia Bartel among various Melbourne socialites.
Speaking on KIIS 101.1’s Jase & Lauren on Monday morning, Lauren explained that she had a late night fall as she was rushing to catch an Uber home.
“I went as Hip-Hop Barbie and the party was great. Everyone was really into it, there were so many different Barbies,” Lauren explained.

“I was really happy with my outfit because I wasn’t in a mini dress, but in these cool pants so I could really hit the dance floor.”
At midnight, Lauren was ready to leave and she decided to leave without saying goodbye, knowing she would be staying much longer otherwise.
However, this decision would lead her to the emergency room.
“So I tried to run out the door to the Uber in my Barbie rigs and Barbie sort of fell right in front of the Uber,” she continued.

Once she got in the car, Lauren said she was in a lot of pain, so asked her fiancé Paul if she wanted to go to the hospital, because at that point her hand was “really blown up.”
However, the presenter said it was impossible for them to go to the emergency room dressed as Barbie and Ken, so they decided to go home.
‘We went home, put some ice on it,’ Lauren continued.
Shortly until Sunday morning, I wake up with my pink eyeshadow still on and a completely blue palm.

“I went to the hospital, straight to X-rays and a CT scan. Barbie is now a trauma Barbie with four broken bones in her hands.”
At the time, a doctor told Lauren that her hand was so badly broken it looked like she had been run over by a car.
“Then I couldn’t get it (the engagement ring) off because my fingers were so swollen,” she said.
“I thought they were going to cut it off, but we managed to get it off. It’s safe and sound.’
