Radio host Abbie Chatfield celebrates as Labor claims victory in the New South Wales state election after encouraging her fans to vote: “Bye-bye Liberals!”

Abbie Chatfield is delighted with the NSW state election results.

The radio host posted on Instagram Stories on Saturday night, sharing a post that read: “Meet your new Prime Minister, Chris Minns.”

The 29-year-old captioned the image with a simple statement, writing, ‘Bye Libs!’ referring to the outgoing Liberal Party.

It comes as Dominic Perrottet announces that he will step down as leader of the NSW Liberal Party following Chris Minns’ landslide victory in the state election.

The 43-year-old father of three will be the state’s 47th prime minister, in what is seen as a historic victory for his party after 12 years in the political wilderness.

Millions of residents flocked across the state to cast their ballots, competing with both rain and shine at different times throughout the day.

The party is expected to win a majority.

Perrottet called on Minns to concede within hours of polls closing, and his attention will now turn to his ultra-secure Epping seat, which risks falling into Labor hands as well.

Abbie had earlier pleaded with her NSW supporters to vote in state elections, saying it was time to “throw out the Liberals”.

The radio host posted a photo to her Instagram network on Saturday showing her standing in front of a Green Party campaign sign.

She edited the caption after the photo was posted, however Instagram doesn’t show what changes have been made.

Comments have also been limited on the post, but many of her followers echoed her views, while others questioned her views.

Author Helen Chikx agreed with Abbie, as she commented, “Yes, liberals out, please and thank you.”

While another user wrote: ‘Get rid of them! But we also need the upper house to lean less to the right, so voting below the line to the left helps too!’
