A racist transgender woman faces jail after being found guilty of assaulting a Chinese man on a New York City subway with a hammer.
Christian Jeffers, 49, who identifies as female, was found guilty of attempted assault, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, threat and aggravated harassment.
The jury deliberated less than a day before reaching a guilty verdict. Jeffers had gone to the stands in defense the day before.
She appeared in court on Wednesday wearing a white scarf, white shirt, lipstick and what appeared to be eye makeup. She will be sentenced at a later date.

Jeffers was arrested last spring for assaulting a 29-year-old Asian victim at the 14th Street subway station in Manhattan. Prosecutors argued that Jeffers attacked with “little to no provocation.”
The incident, which was caught on camera, shows Jeffers, wearing a black wig and purple lipstick, hitting the victim on the head with a hammer just after the strangers crashed into each other.
They exchanged words before Jeffers is seen launching a brutal attack on the 29-year-old Asian man.
Police said Jeffers has an extensive criminal history dating back to 2007 and includes 47 previous arrests, charges of prostitution, grand larceny, public lewdness, theft on duty and drug possession.
Jeffers was released from prison in June 2021 after serving six years for second-degree robbery, and was arrested for petty larceny just a week after his release.
Jeffers has yet to face sentencing following the guilty verdict, but first-degree assault, a class C felony in which a person intentionally causes grievous bodily harm to another person using a dangerous weapon, could carry a sentence of up to 15 years. jail.

At the time of the hammer attack, the victim said he was fed up with the rising crime in the Big Apple – and that he wants his hammer-wielding attacker “locked up.”
“I want to lock him up because he was pretty aggressive,” the victim, who chose not to be identified, told the New York Post.

“We try to live our lives the best we can, you know, and it’s just a shame that we have to face all these setbacks and all the struggles in life,” he added.
