Racist Anzac Day attack caught on camera as man abuses a group fishing off a city dock

A man in his 60s was filmed unleashing a vicious racist rant against a group of fishermen on Anzac Day.

Footage of the abuse, which took place on a pontoon off Queensland’s Brisbane River on Tuesday night, shows an elderly man attempting to hit the group of four with a pair of crutches.

The fishermen repeatedly ask him ‘what’s going on?’ before starting his racist tirade.

“You’re f****** Chinese – f*** you!” he says.

One of the group tells the man that he is not Chinese.

But he refuses to listen and adds, “Chinese c***s – get out of here!”

The fishermen repeatedly try to de-escalate the situation, but they want nothing to do with it.

He accuses one of them of having something in their bag and demands to see it, claiming ‘he’s got stuff’ and shouting ‘show me!’ again and again.

“You (inaudible), you steal,” he says.

“You can’t fucking do anything on your own. You just have to steal from us.’

One of the victims of the abuse told 9Queensland News that he had no idea why the man attacked their group.

“No reason, (he) just came to hit people,” fisherman Job Prasong said.

“I tried to stop him, but he tried to push me into the water and fight everyone.”

Mr Prasong, a Muay Thai instructor and student, said the couple he and his friend were fishing with are from Korea.

The man was fined nearly $400 for public nuisance after police were called and questioned him for about half an hour.

A Queensland Police spokesman said: ‘Initial information indicates the man was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a number of people on the nearby pontoon.

“Police attended and the 69-year-old Tenerife man was transported to Brisbane City Watchhouse and issued a notice of $391 for public nuisance (violent conduct in other circumstances).

“No complaints have been made regarding assault, but the investigation into the incident continues.”
