Racing legend Scott Bloomquist dies in plane crash at the age of 60

  • Bloomquist is said to have flown in an old-fashioned airplane near his family’s farm
  • He won more than 600 races in his 40-year career, mainly on dirt tracks

Dirt track racing legend Scott Bloomquist died in a plane crash Friday morning.

According to TMZ, he was flying the vintage plane when it crashed on his family’s farm in Tennessee.

Bloomquist won more than 600 races in his 40-year career, most of which he spent driving the latest models on dirt tracks.

He is best known for winning nine national championships and the 2004 World of Outlaws Late Model series title.

He recently won the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
