Shocking reason jilted wife Rachel Liu gave police after she allegedly rammed luxury Mercedes in a wild late-night car chase through Sydney’s inner-west

A jilted woman will spend her birthday behind bars on Thursday after allegedly chasing her husband’s new girlfriend in a wild nighttime chase that ended with her crashing her Lexus after repeatedly ramming her love rival’s luxury car.

Rachel Liu, 32, spotted a black Mercedes SUV she owns with her estranged husband Chen Ling Liu around 10:30 p.m. Monday, court documents allege.

She later told police she thought the fancy car had been stolen and followed it through the streets of Earlwood in Sydney’s inner west, the court was told.

But the $150,000 SUV was actually driven by her husband’s new lover and Liu repeatedly rammed him with her Lexus IS300, police told the court.

And the dramatic chase only ended when Liu lost control of her sedan and crashed into a road sign before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Now the jilted wife claims the incident happened after the new lovers taunted her with intimate images of her estranged husband with his new partner.

The Liu’s eight-year marriage ended last year, but finalization of the divorce was delayed by lengthy negotiations over their shared property and business interests.

And the court documents alleged that a volatile love triangle began when Mr Liu became romantically involved with another woman.

Rachel Liu was supported in court today by her mother and cousin.

His wife told police the new couple had relentlessly harassed and taunted her with intimate photos of themselves for a year, the court was told.

Monday’s dramatic scenes erupted after her estranged husband’s new lover dropped him off at home after the couple enjoyed dinner together.

The 38-year-old believed she was being followed and stopped in Campsie to check a text message when she was suddenly confronted by Liu, who was furiously banging on her window, the court documents allege.

The startled driver, 38, drove away and Liu told police she fell to the ground, hit her head and cut her arm, the court was told.

Despite her injuries, Liu began the chase through suburban streets, where police allege she rammed the rear of the Mercedes multiple times, police allege.

CCTV reportedly captured the dramatic ending when Liu veered off the road and crashed her $50,000 car into a sign on Hamilton Ave in Earlwood.

When asked by concerned residents what happened, Liu can be heard on CCTV saying she was “chasing a girl.”

Liu was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to St. George Hospital for evaluation.

The Mercedes driver was unhurt and went to Kogarah police station a short time later to report the alleged incident.
