Rachel Corbett discusses the challenges of new motherhood after leaving The Project

Rachel Corbett reveals why she’s happy to remain a single mom – after she left The Project to welcome her first child: ‘I never once wished someone was here to do this to me’

The Project star Rachel Corbett left the show earlier this year to welcome her first child, daughter Olivia.

And the podcaster has admitted that being a new mother is the biggest challenge she’s faced – but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I’ve been through a lot in my life and I’m pretty good at dealing with difficult things, but nothing can prepare you for what it’s like,” the 42-year-old tells in this week’s issue Stellar magazine.

“You have to meet their every need, even if you don’t have anything left in the tank… There were a few times when I was so tired I caught myself almost dropping her,” she added.

Raising her daughter as a single mother, Rachel doesn’t see that changing any time soon.

“This has never felt like a consolation prize. I heard other women talking and it sounded like they felt like they’d failed or it was sad, and I just never had that feeling,” she tells the magazine.

“I never once wished someone was here to do this to me. If I had to choose between being a mother or being in a relationship again, I would choose mother.’

Rachel tearfully announced her departure from The Project in February, revealing she would be away on maternity leave for several months.

She was expecting her first child at the time and her co-stars explained that she would be raising the baby on her own.

“This has never felt like a consolation prize. I would hear other women talking and it would sound like they felt like they failed or it was sad, and I just never had that feeling,” she tells Stellar

“It’s time for me to go… I’ve been sitting at this desk every week for the past six years… Oh, my God! There’s hassle. I hate fuss,’ she said emotionally.

‘Thanks anyway. That’s sweet. But it’s so weird to leave and also have no idea who I’ll be on the other side of it all, because it’s the biggest thing and the thing you can’t measure,” she continued, collapsing .

“What if I’m miserable? What if I hate it, if I made a terrible mistake? I’m going to cry,” she added.

The television star and podcaster has been a regular guest presenter in the program since 2015 and often appears on Wednesdays.
