Rachael Blackmore on her seven rides this weekend at Gowran Park and Punchestown as she looks to add more money to the Betfair Serial Winners Fund

Honestly launched its unique charity initiative, the ‘Rachael Blackmore – Serial Winners Fund’, in aid of both the ‘Injured Jockey Fund’ and the ‘Irish Injured Jockeys’ on Betfair Chase Day last November.

They started the fund with an initial donation of £100,000 and added a further £5,000 every time Rachael Blackmore rides a winner. It is expected that the fund will reach £250,000 by the Big National Day, Saturday April 13, when the fund comes to an end.

It’s been a quiet week for Rachael, but with a busy book of rides on Saturday and Sunday she’s hoping to contribute to the ‘Betfair Serial Winners Fund’, which currently stands at £160,000.

Gowran Park, Saturday

2.17 – Lantry Queen

I’m really looking forward to riding Lantry Lady in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran on Saturday. She hasn’t run for a while, not since winning her first hurdle on her debut on the racecourse in Gowran last March. She was impressive in winning on the day, edging out Silent Approach who is a Grade 2 winner in fences this season.

She is fine at home and the fact that she is a winner around Gowran is obviously a plus. She should be handling the ground, and we look forward to seeing how she does.

2.52 – Atimetodream

Atimetodream will make her first run here since November, when she finished well back in the field in the mares’ hurdle in Thurles. She wasn’t running any races that day, it just wasn’t her running.

She is better judged based on the performance she gave in winning a handicap hurdle at the Listowel Festival in September, and I hope she can now return to that kind of form. She seems to be doing well after her break, and is in good shape at home. She is a beautifully bred mare and we think she has more progression in her.

4.35 – Aslukwoodhavit

Aslukwoodhavit was badly beaten in the race Quilixios won last time in Naas, but that was a classy race and he just didn’t jump as well as he could.

He jumped very well on his hunting debut at Punchestown in November when he was an impressive winner of his novice pursuit. Hopefully he can now continue to progress over fences. He will love the ground, and he is another one we are looking forward to.

Punchestown, Sunday

1.35 – Arctic Bresil

Arctic Bresil had a nice race at Gowran last time until he made a mistake at the fourth last hurdle, just at the wrong time in the race. He came back into the race, he was right at the penultimate hurdle, but from there he weakened.

He has a lot of ability, but he hasn’t put it all together since winning his first hurdle last season. However, he has been lightly played, so he still has a lot of potential to improve, and I hope he can do well here.

2.05 – Senior chef

Senior Chief did well on the last day at Navan. He just missed out on Minella Cocooner after making a mistake at the penultimate obstacle, but in the end he was not beaten far and finished well ahead of the rest.

That was only his second run over fences, it was a step up from his previous run behind Gaelic Warrior and Inothewayurthinkin at Punchestown, and I hope he can go another step further. He won over two and a half miles and over two miles and six furlongs on heavy ground over hurdles last season, he won the first two and a half mile hurdle on this card last year, the 3.40, so this should be a considerable distance in front of him over fences.

2.35 – Queen Jane

Queen Jane is coming here for the Grand National Trial, but that shouldn’t be a problem for her. She remains well.

She hung on well to top Brides Hill in a two-and-a-half mile chase for handicapped mares at Fairyhouse in December, and was unlucky to be brought down in the Tim Duggan Chase at Limerick over Christmas.

I recently gave her a lesson and she jumped well, she seems to have bounced back well after Limerick. The conditions should suit her and we hope for a big run.

3.40 – Majestic power

Majestic Force looks like a sweet mare, she appears very straightforward at home.

She won her point-to-point by almost 30 lengths by conceding on soft ground, and she is a half-sister to Our Friend, who won on heavy ground as well as on good ground, so hopefully she will be fine under the conditions . She has had good lessons at home and we are looking forward to working with her.
