A two-year-old horse was euthanized after falling on the Flemington track on the eve of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The filly, Rejuvenated, was put down on Friday after being injured during the fifth round of jumpouts – the day before the four-day carnival officially started.
Victoria Racing Club footage of the event shows the young horse finishing second in the race.
The clip is then cut as Rejuvenated fell according to witnesses.

A witness, who took a photo of the scene from across the street, said: “They tended to the jockey first and he walked to the ambulance.”
‘The horse ran a little further after the jockey broke free, collapsed and stopped moving.
“I was shocked to see how quickly they removed his body and the (Jump Outs) continued.
“I was shaking so bad.”
The Victoria Racing Club reportedly said in a statement that it was “deeply saddened to confirm that Rejuvenated was humanely euthanized.”
Ny Breaking Australia has contacted the Victoria Racing Club, Racing Victoria and Rejuvenated’s trainer Anthony & Sam Freedman Racing for comment.

The Melbourne Cup is under increased scrutiny and has been targeted by the ‘Nup to the Cup’ movement after a spate of six horse deaths since 2013.
Those horses were Verema in 2013, Admire Rakti and Araldo in 2014, Red Cadeaux in 2015, Cliffsofmoher in 2018 and Anthony Van Dyck in 2020.
In 2021, the Victoria Racing Club has introduced 41 additional safety measures following wide consultation. Those safety protocols were revised last year.
