Quincy Jones, 90, taken to the emergency room after suffering bad reaction to food

Quincy Jones recovers from an emergency trip to the hospital.

The 90-year-old music legend, who is the father of actress Rashida Jones, was rushed to the ER following a medical emergency at his home in Los Angles.

That said a representative of the 28-time Grammy winner TMZ the music producer reacted badly to some food he ate and called an ambulance Saturday afternoon out of an abundance of caution.

Doctors gave Quincy the all-clear, and he was released.

Q, as his friends call him, remains active.

Quincy Jones, Jr was born in 1934 on the south side of Chicago and started playing music at an early age.

His parents later divorced after his mother was hospitalized for mental illness, and he moved to Washington State with his father and stepmother in 1943, eventually settling in Seattle.

The natural musician started playing the trumpet and arranging music in high school.

After earning scholarships to Seattle University and later to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, he left college for a real tutelage on the road with bandleader Lionel Hampton, where he continued to arrange music.

He later moved to New York where he worked with music greats Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and more.

That work landed him a job at Mercury Records, where he was promoted to vice president in 1961, making him the first African American to hold that position.

In 1980, he founded his own Qwest Records as a joint venture with Warner Bros. Records.

The tireless musician has been working in the movie business since 1965 and has several film projects in the works, including the new musical The Color Purple, starring The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey, Fantasia Barrino and Taraji P Henson. The film will premiere on Christmas Day.

He is listed as a producer, alongside Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey.

Quincy wrote the music and produced the original 1985 Oscar-nominated film starring Whoopie Goldberg as Celie and Oprah in her very first film role.

The talk show legend received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the feisty Sophia.

Steven Spielberg directed the drama, which also received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Quincy Jones is the father of seven: Jolie, 69, from his first marriage; Rachel, 59, from a previous relationship; Martina, 56, and Quincy III, 54, are from his second marriage to Swedish model Ulla Andersson, 77.

Kidada, 49, and Rashida, 47, are his daughters from his marriage to the late actress Peggy Lipton, and Kenya, 30, is the daughter he shares with ex-partner Nastassja Kinksi, 62.
