Tributes are being paid to a much-loved teenager who died in a horrific road accident on a busy highway in regional south-east Queensland just days into the New Year.
19-year-old Madison Jardine was driving on the Brisbane Valley Hwy about 5pm on Wednesday when she collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction.
The teenager died at the scene while the driver, a 36-year-old man, was flown to Brisbane's Prince Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
As news of her death spread, Toogoolawah State High School principal Ross Jardine posted a tribute to Ms Jardine on the school's Facebook page.
“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I share the devastating news of the passing of Madison Jardine,” Mrs. Jardine said.
'Madison, who will graduate Year 12 in 2021, was involved in a fatal road traffic accident in Esk on the evening of January 3.

“Madison's presence at Toogoolawah State High School had a lasting impact on all who knew her.
“Her kind spirit, friendliness and dedication made her a highly regarded member of our school community.”
Ms Jardine encouraged the school community to 'cherish' and remember the late teenager as they came to terms with the loss.
“To the Madison siblings who currently attend Toogoolawah State High School, we extend our deepest condolences,” she said.
“Our deepest condolences also extend to Madison's parents and their extended families and friends.
“I have reached out to Madison parents and assured them that our school community stands ready to provide support, comfort and assistance in any way we can.”

Locals and Toogoolawah State High School were quick to pay their own tributes to the 'kind-hearted' teenager.
'One of the saddest losses. Maddie was a kind-hearted girl who cared for others at school and made them feel included,” said Toogoolalah resident Charlie Lewis.
“I'm so glad my girls got to dance and laugh with you for so many years. Your kindness and laughter will leave a lasting impression… RIP Kiddo.”
Janet O'Connor, also from Toogoolawah, described Mrs Jardine as a 'beautiful young woman' whose death at such a young age was particularly tragic.
“To Madison's family… my heart goes out to you… especially her mother, who I remember so well from her school days,” Mrs. O'Connor said.
Kate White, from Esk, where the crash took place, added that there were 'no right words to tell anyone in this situation'.
“My sincere condolences to family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing what a beautiful soul Madison was,” she said.
'Absolutely heartbreaking… gone far too young, but certainly never forgotten. Thinking of you all at this sad time.”
