A person is fighting for their life in hospital after they were struck by lighting in a suburban street during wild storms.

Queensland Ambulance were called to a street at Brendale in Brisbane’s north after a person was hit by lighting around 2:30pm on Sunday.

The person was treated by paramedics at the scene before they were taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

Queensland’s south-east is set for more severe storm activity for the remainder of Sunday afternoon.

It’s expected to bring lighting strikes along with heavy rainfall and damaging winds.

Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast have been the most affected by the weather.

The Bureau of Meterology warned that heavy rain in these regions could lead to flooding.

‘Heavy rain leading to flash flooding remains likely in the warning area, with immediate impacts for #Caloundra, #NoosaHeads, #MoretonIsland and #Gympie,’ the bureau said.

More to come.
