- The Queensland Premier’s popularity has continued to decline over the year.
- The YouGov survey revealed that 40 percent of the state was happy with its performance
- His net satisfaction rating is now negative, at -1, the survey revealed.
- Opposition leader David Crisafulli’s satisfaction rate remained at 31 percent
Queenslanders are increasingly unhappy with Annastacia Palaszczuk as the prime minister’s satisfaction rating plummets to negative numbers, a new survey has revealed.
The most recent YouGov survey, obtained by the Mailrevealed that Ms Palaszczuk was now facing a net satisfaction rating of -1, the first time it had fallen this low since before the pandemic.
The premier has seen a worrying downward trend in his popularity, with 41 percent of his voters dissatisfied with his performance and just 40 percent saying they were happy.
Ms. Palaszczuk boasted an incredible 57 percent satisfaction rating during the 2020 state election, however that enviable figure has dropped dramatically this year.
The Queensland PM’s popularity has plunged into the negative, now with a net rating of -1
A YouGov poll in February showed the prime minister’s satisfaction rating was 50 percent before it fell to 45 percent in June.
The latest poll, taken last week, saw her fall to her lowest rating of 40 percent.
The 40 percent satisfaction rating is lower than that of his predecessor, Prime Minister Campbell Newman, who suffered a stunning electoral defeat in 2015.
Former Liberal Prime Minister Newman’s satisfaction rating was 41 percent during his 2015 campaign, but his net result was -11, with 52 percent dissatisfied.
Then Labor Prime Minister Anna Bligh’s satisfaction rating was 43 per cent before the 2012 election debacle, with a net result of -9.
Opposition leader David Crisafulli’s satisfaction rating has stood at 31 percent since June.

The poll revealed that 39 percent of Queenslanders still believe Palaszczuk would make the best prime minister, with 28 percent backing Crisafulli.
One in three voters is still not engaged with the question.
Tensions flared between the prime minister and her opponent earlier in the year after Ms Palaszczuk came under fire for frequently attending glamorous social events.
Mr Crisafulli announced that Ms Palaszczuk was playing “the same old games, round and round… red carpet, glitz, glamour, no vision.”
The prime minister insisted that she was aware of her workload and that visiting high-profile events was “part of her job”.
Ms. Palaszczuk’s dedication to her work was questioned due to her tendency to frequently attend glamorous social events (pictured Ms. Palaszczuk with her boyfriend, Dr. Reza Adib, at the Logie Awards (left) and the premiere of the new Baz Luhrmann film, Elvis (right))
Two in 10 people in the state still do not have an opinion on the current prime minister, as Crisafulli may have a chance to get by with four in 10 who do not have an opinion on the opposition leader’s performance.
Queenslanders will go to the polls on October 26, 2024.
The approval rating comes as the prime minister offered her condolences after the three people – two police officers and an innocent neighbor – were shot dead at a remote property in Wieambilla on Monday.
“This is a horrific tragedy, and on behalf of the entire state of Queensland, I offer my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of these two young police officers who were tragically killed,” he said Tuesday.
They were so young. So young. They were incredibly brave. These were absolutely callous and brutal acts. And with honor they served.
