Queensland Climate Smart Energy Savers Programme: Australians get $1000 as a gift to upgrade fridges and dishwashers – here’s how you can get your hands on the money
Thousands of households in Queensland are eligible for discounts of up to $1000 by replacing everyday appliances with newer, more energy-efficient ones.
The state government has started offering large cash grants if they upgrade household items such as refrigerators and dishwashers to more energy-efficient versions.
Acting Prime Minister Steven Miles said the package was an additional livelihood option.
As part of the $22 million Climate Smart Energy Savers program, the government will offer rebates to households that purchase and install eligible appliances with an energy rating of four stars or higher.
People can apply for a discount online with a copy of the sales receipt for each eligible device.

The government says that, in addition to the instant cash boost available under the scheme, moving to more efficient appliances will help reduce energy bills.
“Not only does the Climate Smart Energy Savers program provide financial assistance in making an energy-efficient purchase, but Queensland households can expect significant savings on their electricity bills in the coming years,” Acting Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Mark Bailey said. in a statement.
Not everyone was impressed with the offer.
‘So we first have to find money to buy the devices out of our own pockets. To then see if we qualify for a discount,” one commenter wrote on Facebook.
Two types of rebates are available under the scheme, starting at $300 for installing a new washing machine and going up to a maximum of $1,000 for a new solar-powered washing machine.
Standard discounts will be available to all eligible Queensland households, while higher discounts will be available to households whose taxable income is less than $66,667.
