Queen of the Cross, Rebecca Harrison: Iconic female boss of Show Girls strip club suddenly dies at just 39

A female strip club boss has died of a suspected drug overdose just hours after being spotted partying with friends.

Rebecca Harrison, the licensee of the Show Girls strip club on Darlinghurst Road in Kings Cross, died in November after celebrating her 39th birthday there.

Police say it is too early to tell Mrs. Harrison's cause of death, but I believe she went to bed after the party and never woke up.

Officers are now awaiting the results of a toxicology test to be provided to the coroner, who will then determine her cause of death.

Ms Harrison's sister Joanne Roe announced the “devastating” news on social media.

Ms Roe said she was also waiting for toxicology results to find out what happened to her sister.

'There were two police officers at my door. They had come to inform me that my sister Rebecca Harrison had passed away,” Ms Roe wrote.

'Obviously we are absolutely devastated by this news and in complete shock. We don't know the details, but I just wanted to share it here so people who knew Rebecca would know what happened.”

Other friends of Mrs Harrison have also paid tribute to a woman who 'knew everyone in the Cross'.

“It was a gift to be in your presence [and] you went too soon,” best friend Hannah Extance wrote.

Another friend told me the Daily Telegraph that the news 'turned a lot of people upside down'.

“She partied hard, but no one expected something like this to happen to our Bex,” she said.

'One minute we're all wishing her a happy birthday, the next minute we're writing RIP – how?'

Ms. Harrison started working at Show Girls after previously working as waitressing at the DreamGirls club until it was raided and closed in 2016.

A friend said she had last seen Ms. Harrison at a DreamGirls reunion a few weeks ago and that she had been “the center of the fun.”

The Show Girls website describes the club as a 'hotbed of nightclub music and lap dancers' where 'the most beautiful women from across Australia' perform.

Mrs Roe is expected to fly from Britain to Sydney in January for her sister's cremation.
