Queen Maxima of the Netherlands looks glam but casual in linen trousers and an orange blouse

It’s the national colour of The Netherlands, so it was no wonder that Queen Maxima looked in such ebullient spirits today as she stepped out in a bright orange ensemble.

The royal mother-of-three, 50, paired the lace blouse, which had a ruffle detail shoulder, with casual, light linen trousers and an understated up-do for the outing to visit Delft Technology University.

Known for pairing her accessories, the royal walked with a navy blue clutch bag that paired perfectly with her navy linen trousers.

Her dangly earrings matched the blouse, with a dash of red lipstick to finish off the look, as she returned to work after her summer holiday.

The mother-of-three sported a natural summery makeup, with a dash of bronzer adding definition to her sun-kissed glow, a nude lip and a sculpted brow.

The Queen was visiting the university today, which is also known as TU Delft, is the oldest and largest Dutch public technical university, located in Delft, Netherlands.

As of this year it is ranked by QS World University Rankings among the top 10 engineering and technology universities in the world.

She certainly painted the landscape a new color during a visit to the activities market of the reception week and the introduction program for new students in Delft, as well as a nod to her nationalism.

She was pictured laughing with the new students at the university, giving onlookers a flash of her understated black strapped watch with a square face.

Students stopped to pose to take selfies with the Netherlands royal, who was only too happy to oblige.

This latest visit comes after a break in duty for the Queen, who has taken a month off royal engagements this summer.

She was last seen visiting Vienna in Austria with her husband King Willem-Alexander in July.

Máxima wore a flowing three-tone gown with a splash of red on top when meeting the Dutch chamber choir at Konzerthaus concert hall.

Big changes are afoot in the family this coming Autumn with Princess Amalia set to go to university.

Earlier this year, the Dutch heiress-to-the-throne announced she has enrolled for a degree at Amsterdam university – and will live with normal students in a houseshare.

She appeared in good spirits as she sat down for a roundtable discussion and took part in an activities market during the visit

She will be studying for a £3,750 degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics at University of Amsterdam from September.

During her studies, the Princess will be living in a rented houseshare with her fellow students.

A post on the royal court’s Instagram account stated that her time at university is considered ‘private.’
