Queen Mary of Denmark leads the glamorous European royals stepping out in Paris ahead of the opening ceremony

European royals flocked to Paris today to build excitement ahead of the start of the 2024 Olympic Games.

Queen Maria of Denmark went in the French capital in chic clothes and with a red jacket at the front. Queen Mathilde and King Philippe of Belgium were also involved in the festivities.

The Olympic Games officially kick off tonight with a glittering ceremony in Paris, but that doesn’t stop the royals from celebrating early.

Queen Mary, 52, was in high spirits this morning as she attended the torch relay ahead of the opening.

Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde of Belgium looked equally elegant as she arrived at the Lotto Belgian House in the Salons Hoche.

Mathilde, 51, was accompanied by her husband King Philippe as they officially opened the hotel ahead of the Games.

The mother of four opted for an orange and white floral dress which she paired with bright red stilettos.

She completed her outfit with a red clutch and accessorised with gold earrings and a series of designer bracelets.

Mathilde wore her golden blonde locks loose in her usual blow-dried bob and opted for a natural makeup look.

King Filip looked stylish as always in a navy blue jacket that he paired with dark gray trousers.

The couple appeared in high spirits as they were given a tour of the new property, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

The Olympic Games officially begin tonight, marking the first time in the event’s history that they will not be held in a stadium.

Instead, the event will take place outside a closed stadium, with Paris hosting an unprecedented water parade in honour of the Olympic Games.

Yesterday, Princess Anne landed in Paris, along with Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Mary, all three of whom looked stunning.

Queen Mary was accompanied by her husband, King Frederik, 56, as they attended the opening of the Danish pavilion at the Maison du Danemark on the Champs-Elysees, which will be open throughout the summer of the Games.

Mary was the picture of health in a beautiful red suit as she and her husband Frederik cut the ribbon at the official opening of the Danish pavilion.

She and Frederik welcomed Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach in an atmospheric setting in front of the Louvre and the tournament’s famous rings.

Mary wore a white jacket and the colours of her country, clearly showing her support for the team.

Princess Anne joined the royals out and about in Paris today, part of a gradual return to royal duties for the 73-year-old since she was taken to hospital on June 23 with minor head injuries and concussion after walking around her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire. Doctors believe her injuries are consistent with being struck by a horse.

The Princess, who is president of the British Olympic Association, visited the British team’s training base in Saint-Germain-En-Laye on Thursday morning.

She completed her outfit with a red clutch and added gold earrings and a bunch of designer bracelets.

Anne was the first British royal to compete in the Olympics herself, and wore a Team GB jersey herself, showing her full support for the team.

She looked like herself again and was in high spirits as she met and shook hands with some of Britain’s biggest stars, including runners Keely Hodgkinson, Imani-Lara Lansiquot and twins Laviai and Lina Nielsen.

Fans of the royal family called her a “royal rock star” as she returned to performing with vigor after a period away from the spotlight.

In a speech ahead of the Games on Wednesday, she wished the stars of Team GB ‘the very best of luck and that it goes as well as you hope’.
