Queen Letizia of Spain cut a chic figure in a smart casual ensemble as she visited the winner of the Exemplary Town of Asturias Awards today with the Spanish Royal Family.

The Spanish royal family visited the village of Sotres in Cabrales on Saturday to celebrate the Princess of Asturias award, which is now 35 years old.

Queen Letizia, 52, was joined at the awards ceremony by her husband King Felipe VI, her daughter Princess Sofia, 17, and 18-year-old Crown Princess Leonor – the namesake of the Asturias Awards.

The prize is awarded to the town or village in Asturias ‘that has distinguished itself in a remarkable way in the defense and conservation of the natural environment, its historical and cultural heritage’.

The awards share their name with Princess Leonor, the Princess of Asturias.

Queen Letizia opted for smart casual for today’s outing, wearing a cream-colored high-neck sweater and a fitted blazer with a gray and white checked pattern.

She completed her ensemble with black pants and kept her brunette locks tied around her shoulders, with her makeup done in her signature natural style.

Her daughters – Leonor and Sofia – both wore blue jeans, with the eldest opting for a black T-shirt and jacket similar to her mother’s, but in a darker colour.

The youngest Spanish royal family wore a dark blue sweater during the family trip to Sotres.

The Princess of Asturias Awards are a series of annual awards presented in Spain by the Princess of Asturias Foundation – formerly the Prince of Asturias Foundation – to individuals, entities or organizations from around the world who have made notable achievements in the fields of sciences, humanities and public affairs. .

Each recipient attending the ceremony will receive a diploma, a sculpture created especially for the awards by Spanish sculptor Joan Miró, and a pin with the Foundation’s emblem.

In addition, there is a cash prize of 50,000 euros for each category, this amount will be divided if the category has more than one recipient.

Queen Letizia was typically chic in a bright blue, figure-hugging midi dress. With its asymmetrical neckline and subtle ruffles, the long-sleeved number flattered her petite frame.

She paired her statement dress with pointed-toe gold kitten heels and a matching clutch.

The glamorous former journalist wore her shiny, shoulder-length brown hair in a classic blow-dry style and tucked it behind her ears to reveal a pair of delicate silver and sapphire earrings.

Her smoky eye makeup completed her evening look, while a touch of dark red lipstick brightened her bronzed skin.

Princess Leonor, the future monarch who today received the title of honorary mayor of Oviedo, matched her mother’s elegance in a light blue tulle skirt printed with flowers.

With a satin waistband and fine pleats, the midi skirt was a real showstopper.

The future Queen of Spain expertly paired this elaborate number with a simple black crew-neck top and completed her ensemble with a pair of patent black kitten heels.
