Queen Letizia has made a surprising change to her wardrobe – so can YOU guess what it is?

Queen Letizia of Spain is known for her daring and impeccable fashion choices, especially her sky-high heels.

Earlier this year, however, the 51-year-old monarch broke a toe on her right foot and swapped her signature heels for more comfortable shoes.

In May, Letizia debuted a pair of white sneakers at an official event.

And in the weeks that followed, she continued to pair her crisp white shoes with pantsuits in a variety of colors.

But now the Spanish monarch has a preference for a new, elegant style: block-heeled sandals.

In July, Queen Letizia rocked a sequined Self-Portrait dress with £565 mid-heeled sandals from Aquazzura

Queen Letizia is believed to have been suffering from Morton’s neuroma in her left foot since 2022.

This condition is characterized by a thickening of the tissue surrounding the nerves between the third and fourth metatarsal bones.

It can cause severe stabbing pain, numbness and tingling.

She is also said to suffer from metatarsalgia (pain in the ball of the foot) in both feet, which also explains why she wears comfortable shoes.

Her trainers of choice seem to be the £140 Primus Lite Knit from British sustainable running shoe brand Vivobarefoot.

Made from recycled plastic and featuring woven details, these shoes are designed to give the wearer the feeling of ‘walking barefoot as much as possible’.

Letizia was spotted wearing these shoes in May, June and July, paired with various pantsuits.

In July, Letizia presented a variety of shoes from both major brands and luxury designers, including Mango, Aquazzura and Dior.

Her silver Mango faux leather sandals, priced at £45.99, were a perfect choice.

The block heel and metallic sheen paired beautifully with her BOSS slip dress and Barbara Goenaga diamond earrings.

A week earlier, the queen had opted for the coveted Sundance mid-heel sandals from Aquazzura.

The £565 design is made in Italy from pale gold mirrored leather and features a quilted effect on the 2in heel and delicate straps.

These sandals were the perfect match for Letizia’s gorgeous sequin Self-Portrait dress.

It appears that Letizia opts for shoes that are one size larger for more comfort.

She also bought two pairs of Hugo Boss sandals, each costing £239, and a pair from Dior worth £890.

The latter’s black, ribbed grosgrain upper features a deconstructed bow, adorned with a signature resin pearl.

With their ankle strap and 4cm heel, the shoes added a sophisticated touch to the beaded ensemble worn by the luxurious French fashion house’s royal family.

This choice is a marked departure from Letizia’s previous high-heeled pumps in versatile shades of black and beige, which usually come from extravagant brands such as Saint Laurent and Carolina Herrera.
