An extremely valuable three-piece coin set in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II will be released and cause a frenzy among collectors.

The UK Royal Mint will unveil its highly anticipated Memorial Coin Collection on Monday, while Australians can also purchase them on its website.

Leading Australian coin expert Joel Kandiah warned that the collection will be in so much demand that the British Royal Mint’s website will crash.

“They have a good queuing system, but the overwhelming demand for those coins is just getting ridiculous,” he said. 7News.

“The demand for this is through the roof. I think the Australians will be up for it soon, then it’s worth getting into it.’

The three-coin set includes two £5 coins and a 50p coin and will be the first to feature the portrait of King Charles III.

The cost of collecting coins has not been determined, but Mr Kandiah suspected the starting price for each coin could be £15 – or about $26 AUD each.

“Obviously they’ll be making silver to cater for different markets out there, but the base level one, I’d say the set of three will probably be around £50,” he said.

The British Royal Mint said on its website that the coins were designed by British sculptor Martin Jennings.

“At The Royal Mint, we have been minting coins for the British monarchy for over 1,100 years, and it has been our pride and privilege to mint every single UK coin from the remarkable 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II,” the statement reads. website.

“It is our honor to now mint the first British effigy of His Majesty King Charles III on a coin collection commemorating the life and legacy of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.”

The portrait of King Charles III will be turned to the left according to the royal and numismatic tradition.

“Coins depicting portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III will circulate in turmoil for years to come,” the British Royal Mint wrote on its website.

“On 3 October 2022, we are honored to release a special collection of commemorative coins to mark this poignant moment in British history.

Each new coin in the collection features one of three reverse designs and features the official coin portrait of King Charles III.

“The British 50p coin will also enter general circulation.”
