Queen Camilla visits London homelessness charity to learn about its work creating women-only spaces

The queen consort bundled up against the chill today, wearing a smart navy blue frock coat as she visited a homeless charity in south-east London to learn of its possible plans to open women-only facilities.

Camilla, 75, visited The Emmaus Community at Bobby Vincent House in West Norwood, which has been supporting homeless people with a home, meaningful work and funded training for nearly 15 years.

She has been a patron of Emmaus UK since 2006 and has toured many of its communities across the country that have been helping the homeless, known as ‘peers’, for decades.

Today’s visit follows yesterday’s release of a new Netflix trailer for the Harry and Meghan docuseries, in which Prince Harry He shockingly accused the Palace of “lying to protect my brother” and claimed that he and Meghan were victims of “institutional gaslighting” in their most incendiary attacks on the royal family yet.

However, continuing her royal duties amid the launch of the explosive trailer, Camilla visited the organization to learn of its plans to diversify its support, with the charity conducting research to better help women sleeping rough and to see if a women-only provision is a possible answer.

The queen consort stepped out in style for the engagement, donning a navy mandarin-collar frock coat and black suede knee-high boots to ward off the chilly December weather.

She finished her look with her trademark natural makeup, pairing a fresh, polished foundation with a soft pink lip and dark eyeliner. Meanwhile, she styled her long blonde hair in soft waves.

Camilla kept her jewelry simple, sporting pearl earrings, along with her wedding and engagement rings.

During her visit, the queen consort gave an impromptu speech in which she praised the organization, noting that she has visited its centers “13 or 14” times over the years.

She also promised that if the charity opens a women-only facility, she will come and open it.

While at her engagement, she also looked at donated furniture and household items at Emmaus SLC’s boutique store, revealing that she is a thrifty shopper who has scored a bargain at a charity shop.

Speaking to the charity’s head of business, Rachel Burton, Queen Camilla added: “I know with all these shops they never give me enough time to look around, all the furniture is so useful.” I have collected some nice pieces.

She too he praised the organization’s work saying, “It’s an amazing charity, you don’t believe it until you see it.”

The first Emmaus Community was founded in Paris in 1949 by Abbe Pierre, a Catholic priest, parliamentarian and former member of the French Resistance.

The winter of 1954 was particularly harsh, and Abbe Pierre was furious when he heard that a baby and a woman had frozen to death in the streets.

He launched an appeal in the press and on the radio, and the people of Paris responded with gifts and support, and Emmaus became a major international charity.

But you may also need to provide more support to homeless people who are suffering from mental health problems or drug dependency.

Upon her arrival at the center, her 13th or 14th visit to one of the organization’s centers, the Queen Consort greeted staff, escorts and trustees.

James Hayes, chief executive of Emmaus SLC, said beds were available in the accommodation it offers, but added: ‘It’s not that homelessness has been eliminated.

‘What we’re finding is that to live and function in the community you have to be willing and able to work, your support has to be relatively low and what we’re finding is that there are a lot of people who need our support, but they need an offer of services much more improved and this is how we must adapt ”.
