Queen Camilla pokes fun at herself as she jokes about her ‘very creative side’ during wreath making workshop

Queen Camilla tried her hand today during a visit to the newly restored Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings in Shropshire.

Her Majesty, 76, took part in a spring wreath-making workshop, where she attached felt daffodils to a skeleton frame.

Camilla, who seemed to be struggling with her design, joked that she has “a very creative side.”

“If I had the time, I would look very beautiful,” she joked.

For her outing, the royal family was stylishly dressed in a camel coat and skirt from Anna Valentine, a leopard print Fiona Clare blouse and suede boots from Russel & Bromley.

Earlier in the day she met local volunteer groups at the Shrewsbury Food Hub and later unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit.

Her Majesty continues to carry out assignments as King Charles and the Princess of Wales undergo cancer treatment.

Camilla has wrapped herself against the cold in an Anna Valentine coat, decorated with two cheerful bumblebee brooches, one of herself and one of Queen Elizabeth II.

More than 2,000 people came out to catch a glimpse of the Queen during her first public engagement since Kate’s announcement.

Camilla has become the highest-ranking royal to return to public duties since the monarchy’s twin cancer scares.

Earlier in the day she spoke to traders as she walked past the market in the Shropshire town, which was home to a large number of stalls selling food, artisans, jewelery and crafts.

The Queen met with market organizers Jenny and Stuart Jones before touring the historic event, which has been held on The Square for almost two decades.

It has become one of the best markets in the area, with around 40 traders regularly setting up their stalls on the first Friday of the month.

Camilla also visited the Old Market Hall, where she signed the visitors’ book, which was also signed by Queen Elizabeth II in 1952, before meeting members of the local Beekeepers’ Association.

It comes after Buckingham Palace confirmed yesterday that Charles will make his most significant public appearance since being diagnosed with cancer while attending church on Easter Sunday.

Tomorrow, Queen Camilla will attend the Maundy Service at Worcester Cathedral.

Her Majesty will present the Royal Maundy to local pensioners on behalf of the King in a service commemorating Jesus washing the feet of the apostles at the Last Supper.
