Queen Camilla is ‘proud’ to take on more duties in a packed diary of events as King Charles and Princess Kate are treated for cancer

Queen Camilla is ‘proud’ to take on more duties in a jam-packed diary of royal events as King Charles and Princess Kate receive their cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales’s diagnosis and preventive chemotherapy mean she is unlikely to make much public appearances in the coming months – and no date has been given for the King’s return to full duties.

The 76-year-old queen is “resilient” and will do whatever is asked of her to help the royal family, aides reportedly said.

She will be assisted in filling in gaps in the diary by the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Camilla made one of her most important trips without her husband this week, visiting Belfast in Northern Ireland for a series of appointments arranged before the King was diagnosed with cancer.

And next Thursday she will become the first royal consort to hand out White money on behalf of a monarch at the Royal Maundy service, in the presence as Charles’s representative.

Queen Camilla is ‘proud, resilient and committed’ and will ‘step up’ to serve the country and the king, a royal source said The Telegraph.

The source added that she was “juggling” her priorities as she wants to support Charles as much as possible while still fulfilling her duties.

The royal family sending Camilla to Belfast on her own reveals that they place a lot of trust in her as Northern Ireland is an incredibly sensitive place for the monarchy to visit.

During previous trips to Northern Ireland, the king took center stage, with his wife supporting him.

The Queen’s visit to Belfast appears to have gone well and has attracted support and good wishes from locals.

She was even photobombed by an adorable 23-month-old while visiting local shops in Belfast.

The royal family, who began the second day of their trip to Northern Ireland on Thursday, couldn’t help but smile as little Fitzwilliam Corrie-Salmon posed up a storm for the camera as his father, co-owner of Knotts Bakery, chatted with the King’s . woman.

The toddler wore a tiny tuxedo as he grinned for the photos and came right up to the lens.

William Corrie watched as his son continued with Camilla and they both looked as amused as they were delighted.

“We have a knack for the cameras,” she announced, grinning as she looked at him.

The Queen visited the Isle of Man the day before and stayed alone at Hillsborough Castle, the official residence of the royal family in Northern Ireland, on Wednesday evening ahead of her tour of Belfast.

These visits usually include appointments with both the King and Queen, but also include parts of the day where they attend some alone.

Camilla attended her own solo performances, rather than the king’s, The Telegraph reported.

But she made it clear that Charles would have liked to be there in person and was reluctant to miss the trip he was looking forward to.

The Queen will host a reception at Clarence House on Thursday with authors and neuroscientists to celebrate the results of The Queen’s Reading Room research, which links reading fiction books and wellbeing.

The study showed evidence of a link between reading fiction and better mental health, brain health and social connection.

She will then visit the farmers’ market in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, on Wednesday. She will also attend the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, the world’s first iron-framed building which has recently been restored. It is used as a space for volunteer groups.

She will then attend the White Service at Worcester Cathedral on Wednesday. Her Majesty will present the Royal Maundy on behalf of the King during the service.

It will be the first time that a consort has done this on behalf of the monarch. When Queen Elizabeth II was unable to attend, she was never represented by Prince Philip, but instead by Charles, then the Prince of Wales, her mother and her aunt Princess Mary.

Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will also take on many of the royal duties in the coming months to help with the absence of Charles and Kate, as well as Harry and Meghan.

The Princess Royal will attend nine engagements next week and the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Aberdeenshire on Monday.

The Prince of Wales, who will support his wife and children over the Easter holidays, is currently set to return to public duties after the holidays, but he wants to help Kate as much as he can while she undergoes her treatment.
