¡Qué bien! Samsung Live Translate will be available on Galaxy Buds at the end of February
Unless you’ve been living on a remote desert island for the past few months (can I join in?), you’ll have seen the new Galaxy S24 series, which opened up a plethora of possibilities to connect across cultures and countries thanks to growing support for Galaxy AI – some of which is also coming to the latest generation of Galaxy phones.
Now you can break down language barriers with the company’s Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds FE, along with your shiny new (or slightly older S23) handset, with the latest update to the Samsung Galaxy Buds range.
We reported on an initial leak that Live Translate would be coming to your Galaxy Buds before Christmas, but at the time the ETA for the Buds debut was the second half of 2024. It looks like the update is coming early – late February, be exact . Yes full!
Are you tired of feeling lost-in-translation during important conversations (even if you have a decent command of the local language)? Believe me, I’ve been there. The Galaxy S24 series’ real-time translation features let you talk to anyone, anywhere – and Samsung says this barrier-free communication gets even better with the Galaxy Buds.
Would you like to provide further explanation?
Naturally! The key words to look out for in the rollout are Live Translate and Interpreter. Interpreter already improves communication by providing real-time translation using your Galaxy S24 series. But when paired with your Galaxy Buds, the feature gets even better, because it will different sound during conversation.
Essentially, you can listen to translations through your earbuds while another person can hear the original audio through your phone’s speaker, making you feel part of the conversation and eliminating the need to pass your device back and forth between a human interpreter eliminates. . Plus, you have the option to change the voice order during the call by simply tapping your Buds, without having to go to your phone.
The Nitty Gritty? Naturally: as you would expect, Live Translate requires a network connection and sign-in to a Samsung account – and Live Translate is only available in the pre-installed Samsung Phone app. It will be available in 13 languages at launch, but certain languages may require a language pack download.
There are a number of other Buds-specific benefits coming with the update, including 360 Audio (previously supported on phones, tablets and PCs) which will now be available for select Samsung TVs. This means Galaxy Buds 2 or Buds 2 Pro can also track your head movements to create a truly immersive soundscape.
Then there’s Auracast support for phones (so your S24 series phone, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, or S23 device excluding the FE edition can become a broadcast hub, ready to send audio to multiple earbuds and to ping headphones) and finally, auto switch (aka multipoint connectivity between two devices using your Galaxy Buds 2 Pro) is rolling out to select PCs, including the Galaxy Book4 series.
All in all, it’s a great day for the Samsung ecosystem – especially since the excellent Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro already featured heavily in our best noise-cancelling earbuds guide.
