A woman has been filmed lying in front of a stationary car, apparently trying to stage an accident in what is believed to be an attempt at insurance fraud.

A motorist was driving slowly along a quiet street in Quakers Hill, in Sydney’s west, on Wednesday when a woman appeared in the road.

She walked calmly towards the car as it came to a stop, before lying down under the front bumper.

Moments later, a man walked up to the car and appeared to film the woman lying on the pavement with his phone, as seen in footage obtained by Seven News.

Then a younger woman came over and helped the older woman back on her feet.

The elderly woman appeared unharmed during her bizarre behavior as other residents walked along the sidewalk.

NSW Police have been notified of the incident but have not confirmed whether an investigation will be launched.
