A quaint hamlet in the Hamptons, home to Martha Stewart, has been in an uproar over plans to open a New York nightlife venue that would be beloved by celebrities like Taylor Swift.
An attempt to replace the luxurious 18th-century Hedges Inn hotel in East Hampton with the popular Zero Bond club sparked a backlash from residents.
The controversial local population attempted to thwart the plans through several town meetings, led by the mayor.
After a series of meetings, a new law was passed that put plans for the club, which has been home to celebrities such as Elon Musk, Tom Brady and Kim Kardashian, on hold.
Residents successfully imposed an 11pm curfew on all food and drink establishments in the city, thwarting plans for the nightlife venue.

“Let’s face it, Zero Bond is basically a nightclub,” village administrator Marcos Baladron said during the May 17 meeting.
“If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, then it’s a duck. And ducks aren’t allowed here.”
But Zero Bond owner Scott Sartiano has now announced that he will convert the hotel into a branch of his popular restaurant Sartiano’s.

But Zero Bond owner Scott Sartiano has now revealed he is converting the hotel into a branch of his celebrity-magnet restaurant Sartiano’s
“We have no plans to open a private club in the Hamptons this summer, but you never know what the future holds,” he said. The New York Post.
‘You’ll have to wait and see.’
“I hope I am treated the same as everyone else by the authorities. My only focus this summer is Sartiano’s and that I will be at The Hedges Inn for a long time to come.”
East Hampton Village manager Baladrón said The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Mr. Sartiano has watered down his proposal considerably, it will simply be an Italian restaurant. If that is the case, we will roll out the red carpet.
“But if his ultimate goal is to open another Zero Bond, then I think the neighbors need to be very careful.”
Sartiano’s is expected to open July 18 at the Hedges Inn.
