QLD: Family in Logan Motorway road rage attack ‘lucky to be alive’ as car rammed and daughter shot

A family is lucky to be alive after their car was rammed by an SUV and their daughter was shot in the leg during a shocking traffic jam on Anzac Day.
Todd Power was driving his family home on the Logan Motorway in Drewvale, south of Brisbane, when a Toyota LandCruiser began erratically ahead of them at about 6:30pm last Tuesday.
Power said the SUV with tinted windows “hit the brakes hard” and swerved toward their Ford Focus before crashing into them from behind.

Dash cam footage from another car captured the terrifying ordeal as it unfolded, with the SUV changing lanes several times.
Power said the SUV pulled up next to his car before one of the people in the vehicle opened fire.
“He actually shot from the driver’s seat through the passenger seat in his car,” he said.
‘I was standing next to him. He got as close as he could. I heard the shot,” he told the Courier Mail.
The Brisbane father said the projectile skimmed over his thumb, between the seats and on to his daughter Kayla, who was in the backseat.
The 14-year-old was hit in the leg and cried out in pain.
Power said the SUV appeared to be taking the Mount Lindesay Highway exit, but suddenly swerved and tried to T-bone it.
The family then stopped, called triple-0, and met with police and paramedics in a mall parking lot.
Kayla was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital where she is recovering from the trauma.
Mr Power said the projectile pierced her skin but didn’t go all the way into her flesh.
Police believe an air rifle was fired during the incident, a gun that shoots bullets, not bullets.
Kayla said the pain was like someone had hit a golf ball in her leg.
Mr Power said the family was very lucky not all of them were killed.
He said the bullet could have hit him in the eye and caused him to crash the vehicle, potentially killing his entire family.
Power said he’s confident the man will be caught soon, claiming every police car in the state is looking for that Landcruiser.
He said the Toyota driver shouldn’t be on the street.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the incident is under investigation.

βAt around 6:35pm (on Anzac Day) a yellow Ford Focus and a white Toyota Landcruiser were traveling on the Logan Motorway when the driver of the Landcruiser rammed the other vehicle from behind,β he said.
“The Ford Focus sustained damage to the rear,” said a police spokesman.
The driver of the Landcruiser then fired an unknown weapon, believed to be an air rifle, at the occupants of the Ford Focus.
βA female passenger suffered a minor injury to her leg from a projectile and was taken to hospital.
“The Landcruiser continued to head west on Logan Motorway.”
Police have issued a call for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“Anyone who has dash cam visibility is asked to contact the police,” said the spokesperson.
