Qantas plane forced to make emergency landing after pilots lost the use of its brakes

A Qantas flight was forced to make an emergency landing after the brakes could no longer be used.

Shortly after QF1908 departed Canberra for Brisbane on Friday evening, a warning light illuminated indicating a problem with the brakes.

The pilot told passengers there was a technical problem and the plane would have to land earlier than normal, the Courier Mail reports.

The plane landed without incident on Brisbane Airport’s longest runway at 8.02pm, with five fire engines on standby.

‘The pilot handled the situation very well and you wouldn’t notice the brakes failing. It was a smooth landing,” said one passenger.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Qantas for comment.
